The Tooth is a youth activity centre in the Willenhall are of Coventry for young people to share. The Coventry and Warwickshire YMCA community team manage The Tooth and develop activities which stimulate and challenge young people in an environment that enables them to take on responsibility and find a sense of achievement.

We create opportunities for the free and frank exchange of ideas and opinions, so that young people can improve their understanding of the world, of themselves and each other. We provide a flexible education system in an informal setting that helps to provide young people with opportunities to get back into education, training or employment.

Since The Tooth opened in December 2004 aggregated crime in the Willenhall area has dropped significantly, including the areas of burglary, vehicle crime and robbery. The police have said that The Tooth is a valuable service and has had a positive influence on many young people in the area.

The ToothThe Tooth attracts about 200 young people aged between 8 and 18 every week to take part in various activities. During the day The Tooth caters for young people aged 11-16 who may have been excluded from school or are on a part-time time table.

In the evening and during the school holidays the facilities are used by a range of young people aged between 8 and 19. The majority of these live locally in Willenhall, a deprived priority neighbourhood in Coventry. In the school holidays we provide an exciting programme of activities for young people.
